Carol Drashil

Obituary of Carol Robin Drashil

Carol Robin Drashil, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother was born in Tacoma, WA on September 7, 1945 to Gladys Milhoan and passed away on April 2, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Carol married her high school sweetheart and was a devoted wife to Michael Drashil for over 57 years, a loving mother to John Drashil and Elizabeth Heckman (Drashil), and an adoring grandmother to Marcus (16) and Alexander (13). Her son-in-law Matthew Heckman also held a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ann Bill. Family meant everything to Carol, and she poured all her energy into creating beautiful memories with them. Their loss is immeasurable, but they take solace knowing that they were deeply loved by such an extraordinary woman.

As an educator at Puyallup High School for thirty years, Carol, or known to some as Mother English, touched countless lives through her passion for teaching. She inspired students with her wisdom and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts and minds. Her impact as a teacher will continue to resonate throughout generations. In addition to being an exceptional educator, Carol was known for being an avid reader. She also took time to experience and appreciate the day-to-day moments in life. She found joy in watching or listening to Mariners baseball games, and she was a devoted Husky sports fan.

Despite facing numerous challenges throughout life – including battling breast cancer, enduring multiple back surgeries, dealing with normal pressure hydrocephalus, and braving Parkinsonian syndrome – Carol remained positive and courageous. She was a quiet but resilient woman who was strong and never complained. Above all else, it was evident that nothing brought more joy to Carol than spending time with her beloved family. The bond she shared with each member was unbreakable; they were truly the center of her universe.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Arbor Rose Adult Family Home in Tacoma for their exceptional care during Carol's final days. Their compassion provided comfort during such a difficult time.

A celebration of life honoring Carol's remarkable life will take place on Saturday, April 13th, at 1:00pm at Puyallup United Methodist Church where friends and loved ones can gather together to remember and honor Carol. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider making a donation in memory of Carol Drashil to the American Parkinson Disease Association, Washington Chapter, or the Northwest Parkinson’s Foundation. While we mourn the loss of such a remarkable woman, let us remember how fortunate we are to have been graced by her. May you rest peacefully and know that you are forever in our hearts and minds.
