Obituary of Gerald Lynton Sweet

Gerald (Jerry) Lynton Sweet was born in 1935 at St Joseph’s Hospital in Tacoma and raised in the Fife, WA area.

He attended Fife High School and graduated in 1953.

After high school he spent some time in eastern Oregon with family before returning home and serving in the military as an artillery surveyor and sharp shooter where he earned a Good Conduct medal.

While working at Northwestern Drug Co, he met Charlotte Ford. The two were married in 1960, having two sons Jay (Kathlyn) and Dennis (Erica). Later he would have four granddaughters: Brittany, Steffany, Allison, and Jenna.

He spent most of his working life working for Liquid Air, where he was known as a hard worker and retired in the late 80’s to care for Charlotte.

He was a quiet and stable strength and example for his family during her illness, serving as a constant for his family.

After Charlotte’s passing, he met and married Gailywn Johnson in 2003, who stayed by his side until his passing on June 28th, 2023.

He was a life long sports fan, playing mostly softball, where he pitched, and bowling, where he was able to roll a 300 game.

Most importantly, we are rejoicing in the fact that he knew Jesus as his Savior and is now spending the rest of eternity in Heaven.

There will be no formal memorial service. A small private gathering will be held in his honor.
