Obituary of Janice Adele McKillip

Janice Adele “Jan” McKillip of Puyallup, WA, passed on to her heavenly home on June 11, 2023, surrounded by loved ones after enduring the effects of dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease for many years.

Jan was born on December 31, 1937, to Weslo “Wes” and Mildred Lord in the logging town of Shelton, WA, along with her twin sister, Judy, just thirteen months after their older brother, Wally.  The two sisters came to be known as the “Lord twins”; a nickname that they were both proud of.

After the third grade, Jan and her family left Shelton, WA, and moved around the Northwest until they finally settled in Puyallup, WA.  Jan graduated from Puyallup High School as a proud member of the Class of 1956….Here’s where pep and spirit mix, 1-9-5-6.

After high school, Jan got her first job at the Western Washington Experiment Station in Puyallup, WA, which began her working career as a secretary and bookkeeper around the city of Puyallup.

In 1958, Jan married her high school sweetheart, Larry R. McKillip, and together they had two children, Randy and Leanne.

For many years, Jan pursued her interests of cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, spending time with friends, church activities at the Puyallup Church of the Nazarene, reading, and her love of cats.

Jan was predeceased by her parents, Wes and Mildred Lord, but is survived by her children, Randy and Leanne, as well as Wally and Shirley Lord (brother and sister-in-law), Judy Berg (sister), and many nieces and nephews.

Jan’s Celebration of Life service will be held at Hill Funeral Home in downtown Puyallup, WA, on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 1pm.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
