Obituary of Aidan Higgins

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Aidan Cooper Higgins, 19, on January 16th, 2023, at Good Samaritan Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. He was the youngest sibling of three, born in Tacoma, Washington on January 7th, 2004. While growing up in Graham, he was full of energy, charismatic, witty, adventurous, and picked others up around him with his kind heart and compassion for life. Aidan was incredibly funny and his laugh was contagious. He had a special gift of never forgetting a person’s name and he was always willing to offer a helping hand. Aidan was a loving, respectable and hardworking young man living his life and pursuing his dreams.

It was very important to Aidan to cherish every moment with his loved ones. Aidan was an especially caring son who always showed his love to his parents and enjoyed talking with them about how his days were going. He was an unbelievably thoughtful brother who connected with Michael and Cat through their shared interests, including rock climbing and the occasional fitness challenge. Aidan also deeply cared about his friends, who shared the same sense of humor as him, and he would spend time with them any spare moments he had. Aidan hoped to marry the love of his life, Jenna, and spend the rest of his life being an amazing husband, father and provider. They shared a deep connection and he did all that he could to take care of her and support her. Because of his gentle spirit and playful nature, children and animals were drawn to him. Aidan loved animals and was a cat dad to Penelope and Boots, who adored him tremendously.

He loved to skateboard, go to the gym, ride bikes, ride his mini bike, and was ready to take on the next physical challenge. Whether it be skateboards or dirt bikes, wheelies were his specialty and he was really good at it. Although he was very humble, he never missed an opportunity to show his amazing skills. Aidan took after his Dad and enjoyed working on cars and fixing things. He most recently had been rather obsessed with his mini bike project, spending most of his time upgrading, painting and riding it. He also had an artistic flair and knack for DIY projects. He crafted a color changing cloud wall in his bedroom that illuminated his gallery of drawings he made.

Aidan graduated from Graham Kapowsin High School in 2022 where he enjoyed his culinary, photography and art classes and wrestled for many years. He would often hang out with his friends throwing a football or get boba with his girlfriend. He had a talent for writing, video games, doing anything artistic, and was very health conscious and athletic. During and after high school, he would often workout, play Fortnight, detail his truck, draw and spend time with his family and friends.

Aidan worked at Home Depot for a year where he was recognized many times for his hard work and helpfulness. He just recently had started working for Vertexx Construction doing home remodeling, learning the trade and furthering his dream of building houses someday.  This new profession sparked Aidan’s desire to start collecting tools of which his new cordless driver was his favorite. He had a great work ethic, picked up skills quickly and cared deeply about the quality of his work.  His calloused hands were evidence of how hard he worked.  Aidan wasn't discouraged by failure, he believed the best growth came from making mistakes.

Aidan appreciated the wonder and beauty of nature. He cared about the environment and the future of our planet. Aidan loved being outdoors and enjoyed all seasons from playing in the snow to hiking and swimming in the summer. Aidan spent many summers hiking Mt. Rainier and the Pacific Crest Trail with his family. He especially enjoyed family vacations to his favorite destination on Maui. He took pleasure in snorkeling, hiking, cliff jumping and moped riding. Embracing the relaxed island vibe, he always made time to take in the beautiful sunsets and enjoy the sweet things in life. He indulged in pineapple, mango, other tropical fruits and shaved ice.

Aidan leaves behind his loving and proud parents - Elizabeth and Bill Higgins, two siblings - Michael and Catherine Higgins, sibling-in-law - Robyn Hubble, grandparents - Masako Higgins and Edward Smith, his girlfriend - Jenna Teyema, his best friend - Ryan Cox, and extended family members, countless friends and coworkers. It is impossible to express how wonderful a human being Aidan was or express in words how much he was loved. He will be missed immensely and will forever be in our hearts.

Aidan was a fighter, and fought until the very end with the help and expertise of doctors, nurses and staff at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup. In memory of Aidan’s love for life, and ability to make the most out of every moment, we know he would have wanted people to celebrate the life he had and the connections he made.
