Obituary of Sherri Bernice Fortin

Sherri Bernice Fortin, 60 passed away unexpectedly on June 17, 2021, at Tacoma General Hospital. She was born on September 9, 1960, to James and Marie Grimsley in Liberal, KS. Sherri graduated High School in 1978 from Deerfield, KS. On September 3, 1982, she married David Joe Fortin in Pampa, TX.

Sherri worked a variety of jobs while her children were in school and in 1996, she finally completed nursing school and became an LPN. Whether acting as a nurse or a friend, Sherri loved caring for others and helping in any way she could. She loved her friends deeply, and her family endlessly. Everyone she ever met was impacted by her loving care and her laughter. She teased and joked and made you feel as if you were her best, and most favorite person, whether you had just met, or have known her your whole life. Sherri was the life of the party and made everyone smile.

Sherri followed in the family tradition of lots of hobbies, with her favorite being reading, sewing, crafting and yard work. She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. She spent the last 15 years of her life working at Rainier School. She was compassionate about her clients and loved her job. She was an amazing nurse and teacher.

Sherri is survived by her children, Drew Grimsley-Texas, Dusty Fortin-North Carolina, Kristy Workman (Jayson)-Washington. Sherri had eight grandchildren that she loved tremendously: Kenzi, Konnor and Josie all of North Carolina and Spyncer, Bryce, Kylee, Chayse and Mayson all of Washington. Sherri loved her surviving sisters and brothers (law meant nothing to her, they were her siblings.) Nancy Kiehl-Washington; Mary (Ron) Oliver, Michael (Linda) Grimsley, and Janice (Craig) Turrentine- Kansas; Mike (June) Fortin, Gary (Tammy) Fortin and Debbie (Greg) Davis-Texas. She left behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews that all had a special bond with their Aunt Sherri.

Sherri was proceeded in death by her most beloved husband David, her parents James and Marie Grimsley, Joe and Vernell Fortin, her brothers Stanley and Larry Grimsley, Robert Moore, Gary Kiehl, a sister Karen Moore and a nephew Christopher Turrentine. She will be greatly missed by the countless people that knew and loved her dearly.
