Obituary of Patricia Leavitt

Patricia Mae Leavitt passed away in Sumner on November 27, 2018 at the age of 91. She was born in Toledo, WA on May 8, 1927 to Mark and Iris Moore. On May 18, 1946, Patricia married John (Jack) Pierce Leavitt, II. From that day forward, her adored husband and their family and friends would be the center of her life. Pat was celebrated for her cooking, but she was also a talented china painter and seamstress, a lifelong journalist and a poet. She was through-and-through a “lady,” with courage to spare, a strong will and great sense of humor even in the face of illness and adversity. Patricia is survived by three children: John P. Leavitt, III, Corinne Johnson and Wendy Leavitt with husband Michael Berry; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Betty Lou Dowie, and brother-in-law, Harry Swigert, and nieces and nephews. Husband, Jack, passed away in 2012. Private graveside services were held on December 5th at Woodbine Cemetery in Puyallup. In memory of Patricia, contributions to East Pierce County Fire and Rescue would be appreciated.
