Obituary of Kenneth Jones

With family by his side, Kenneth E. Jones went to be with the Lord on February 16, 2018, at the age of 90. Ken was born in Seattle to parents Oren and Ella Jones. He attended Queen Ann High and was an Honor graduate of R.O.T.C. In 1950 he graduated from the University of Washington with a BS in Forestry. While in college he met the love of his life, Emma Jean (Emmie) Adams. They were married in 1950, a marriage which lasted 67 years. Ken was a World War II veteran, serving in both the Army and the Navy. Ken's career began in 1950 at the State Division of Forestry in Glenwood, Washington, and later in Everett with Norris Pole and Piling. In 1953 he joined Weyerhaeuser Company as a Timber Cruiser and Land Appraiser. He spent seven years as a Manager of Recreation Properties where he designed and managed the construction of several recreational developments. Ken retired after 34 years with Weyerhaeuser. Ken loved gardening, camping, fishing, hunting, and watching Fox News, and Husky and Seahawks games. He loved the Lord and was a long-time member of both Good Shepherd Lutheran and Calvary Baptist Churches in Tacoma, WA where he served faithfully. In recent years he attended Bethany Baptist Church in Puyallup where he enjoyed the Young at Heart Sunday School class. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Richard Maillard. Survived by his loving wife Emmie and his three children: Glenn Jones, Vancouver, WA; daughters Carol Rolf and Janet Jones (Maillard), Puyallup, WA; son- in-law Mike Rolf, Puyallup, WA; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A private burial was held February 27th at Woodbine Cemetary. A memorial service celebrating Ken's life will be held this Saturday, March 24, 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, 713 South Hill Park Drive, Puyallup. Ken's family would like to thank the caregivers and staff of Life Care Center of Puyallup, Pioneer Place Memory Haven, and Franciscan Hospice for their compassion and loving care.
