Obituary of Roy Albert Jellison

Roy Jellison

Sept 21, 1937 – July 20, 2023

Roy Albert Jellison, 85, of Puyallup, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2023 after a long battle with Picks Disease/Aphasia.

Roy was born on September 21, 1937 in Monroe, WA. He was the youngest son of Francis and Alberta Jellison. In 1957 Roy met Mary and married the love of his life on August 6, 1960. They moved to Puyallup in 1963 where they raised their two sons, Chris and Tim.

Roy was a hard-working man his entire life. He had a passion to build and tinker with cars and loved to race them. He spent 20-years working with Pederson Fryer Farms and 25 years in the construction and trucking industry. He retired in 2002.

While retired, Roy pursued his love of golf. He was a member of Linden Golf and Country Club where he achieved his only hole-in-one. He also enjoyed showing his 57 Chevy in local car shows, playing cards, barbequing, traveling and snowbirding in Arizona with friends.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Burt Jellison (2000).

He is survived by his wife, Mary, two sons and five grandchildren:

· Chris of Olympia; grandchildren Camille, Cleo, and Charlie Jellison.

· Tim and Laurel of Puyallup; grandchildren Taylor and Hailey Jellison.

His last year and a half he lived at Olympia Transitional Care and Rehab (OTC) just two blocks from Mary. This allowed family to take Roy over to visit Mary on the patio at Brookdale Olympia East or enjoy a walk on the Chehalis Western Trail. OTC became like a second family to him. We are thankful for his caregivers through his journey.

Roy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend – family was important to him. He loved to laugh and had a kind heart. We are comforted to know he has joined many friends and family that passed before him.

Please join us to celebrate Roy’s life and share stories on Sunday, August 20 from 1-4 pm at Mama Stortini's Fireside Room, 3207 E Main Avenue, Puyallup. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to American Heart Association in honor of Roy Jellison.
