Obituary of Janice Ann Ingalls

Janice Ann Ingalls of Orting, WA, passed away early on May 3 in her home while lovingly attended by family members after a long battle with Alzheimers.

Janice Ann (Baxter) Ingalls was born November 3, 1945 to Mary Ellen (Edmonds) Baxter and Earl Lee Baxter in Pocatello, Idaho. Her brother, Fred Baxter, was five years old at the time.

Upon completing graduation, Jan went to Beauty School and began a professional life where she worked in beauty salons, retail sales, jewelry, real estate, and for a time — was owner/operator of The Gourmet Connection. She sold a local brand of coffee that was unknown to most at the time…Starbucks. Jan was a top sales person no matter where she worked.

Janice met Danny Ray Christensen (1942 - 1977) in 1964 and married the next year on November 6, 1965 in Tacoma, WA. The young couple gave birth to Kimberly Ann Goldman (Lynnwood, WA), Michele Lee Canlas (Orting, WA), and Scott Ray Christensen (Puyallup, WA). Danny passed from heart trouble at the age of 35 on June 5, 1977.

On April 16, 1982, Jan would marry Douglas Marion Ingalls of Tacoma, WA and become stepmom to four boys: Scott Ingalls (Seattle), Kevin Ingalls (Tacoma), Brian Ingalls (Tacoma), Chad Ingalls (San Angelo, TX).

Although she lived in Idaho, Tacoma, Sequim, Olympia, and Chehalis –  to name only a few – Puyallup was the town most often considered home. Jan loved laughing, dancing, shopping, traveling, and enjoying family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Doug Ingalls as well as all seven of her children.
