Thomas Zumek Jr.

Obituary of Thomas Zumek Jr.

Thomas Zumek Jr. was born November 29th, 1952 in Black Diamond, Washington to Georgia and Thomas Zumek Sr. He was raised in Black Diamond and graduated from Enumclaw High School. He studied pharmacy at the University of Washington where he met his wife, Angela, his freshman year. They married in 1975 and celebrated just over 47 years of marriage. Tom began his long pharmacy career at Pay N Save and ended it at Costco in Puyallup. Together they raised two daughters, Michelle and Stephanie and have always been a tightly knit family. The girls frequently called on their Dad for wisdom and advice, especially medical assistance. (Didn’t we all!) Tom dedicated his life to caring for his family, friends and others in need. Tom went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 17th, 2023.

In his younger years, Tom enjoyed skiing, hiking, racquetball and baseball. Once he became a father, he delighted in spending time with his girls and their activities and taking vacations all around the Pacific Northwest and beyond. He especially enjoyed telling jokes and sharing the latest news items he read from his phone. Tom had an incredible memory for details, played piano nearly every day the last 45 years and enjoyed playing games with family and friends. He always had a passion to share his gifts and talents for the Lord. Tom was a vital part of Neighborhood Church, from becoming a board member, running the media for the services, playing keyboard and volunteering whenever and wherever he could to support the church and congregation. Tom was known for his generosity and ability to converse with anyone he met. He was a friend to everyone and will be genuinely missed.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents Georgia and Thomas Zumek Sr. and his grandson Jackson. He is survived by his wife, Angela Zumek, daughter Michelle Myers and husband Zach, daughter Stephanie Cottler and husband Chris, and grandchildren Cash and Teddy, sister Sandi Sonsteng and husband Arlyn and brother Rick Zumek. There are also a whole lot of people he considered family that belong in this category.

Tom has touched so many lives with his enormous caring spirit, his funny sense of humor and willingness to help. Many people have shared the fact that he was always taking care of others before taking care of himself. Gone but not forgotten and we look forward to seeing you again in eternity.

Tom Zumek Jr.’s Celebration of Life will be held at Neighborhood Church on Palm Sunday, April 2nd, 2023 at 3:30pm. The address is 2802 Bridgeport Way W, University Place, WA 98466.
