Obituary of Martin Leroy Kotzke

Martin Leroy Kotzke Jr, 70, of Puyallup, WA, passed away on February 6th, 2023 peacefully in his sleep.

Martin was born on December 6th 1952 in Pennsylvania. He worked as a mine worker for Bethlehem Steel for many years before transitioning to a role as a machinist. After his divorce he worked in real estate using his natural charisma to help sell homes. Eventually he went back to working as a machinist. Through some of that time, starting in March 2005 he began teaching hunters’ education where he was able to pass on his passion for hunting to others. During his time as a hunters’ education teacher he won many awards including the Terry Hoffer Memorial Firearms Safety Award in 2019. He continued teaching hunters’ education until the end of his life.

Martin had one child, a daughter named Hilary, who he spent many Summers with. He would often take her camping and fishing, sharing his love of the outdoors with her. They would also play baseball, and go to Mariners games together.

Martin’s daughter would go on to have three kids of her own, Fiona, Madeline, and Logan. Martin loved spending time with his grandkids and would take them on special outings to McDonalds and parks to spend time with them.

Martin is survived by his daughter Hilary, son in law David, and his grandkids, Fiona, Madeline, and Logan.

Services will be held at Paul Bunyon Rifle & Sportsman’s Club on February 25, 2023 at 2pm.
