Obituary of Wesley Neil Adams

Wesley Neil Adams, 86 of Washoe Valley, Nevada passed away on Saturday, December 24th 2022 at Rainier Rehabilitation in Puyallup, Washington.

Wes was born in Greenfield, Massachusetts on May 25th, 1936, the son of Raymond and Alta (Herzig) Adams. He graduated from Greenfield High School in 1954. He then served in the United States Navy as a signalman aboard the USS Wisconsin. He enjoyed serving his country and traveling to the different ports of call. He was married to the love of his life, Winnie Mae for over 31 years.

Wes was a proud member of the Painters and Floor Covering Union and worked hard as a floor coverer for 40 years. After he retired, he worked for Avis car rentals at the Reno International Airport. He loved keeping busy and worked there until the age of 80. Wes was quite a character and loved to be around people. His favorite pastime was having a beer with any of his many friends up at the Eastlake bar or over at the Sand and Sage Bar and Grill. He had many favorite watering holes in Carson and Reno. Back in the day, he loved bowling, was quite the pool player and nobody threw a better horseshoe than he did!! He loved to watch football and baseball both on TV and in person!! He had a love for camping and fishing, which he did as often as he could. He was loved by many friends and by his family!! He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Alta (Herzig) Adams, his loving wife Winnie Mae Adams, and his sister Constance Marie Thornburg who passed away on Friday December 23, 2022.

Left to celebrate his memory are his children Michael (Paula) Adams of Tacoma, Washington, and Sharon (Craig) Thomas of West Des Moines, Iowa; his brother Richard Adams of Santa Ana, California; nephew Ronald (Kim) Van Wie of North Carolina; his dear friend Karen (Rick) Skalsky of Washoe Valley, Nevada; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and a host of close friends that he dearly loved from Washoe Valley.

He was never better cared for than when he was at Rainier Rehabilitation, thank you to all the staff there!! His Hospice team at MultiCare Hospice are the absolute best of the best!! Thank you, Alice, Kelsey, Anita, and Melody. His advocates at the VA are top notch. Thank you, Tim Happeny, and Jody, for all your hard work. A special thank you to Tess and Christy at Kindred Hospice in Carson City Nevada for getting us connected with all these wonderful people in Washington.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring at one of his favorite watering holes in Washoe Valley. Family will send out notification with a date and time.
