Obituary of Gerald Doyle Murry

In Loving Memory of

Gerald Doyle Murry

Nov, 15th 1933 – Oct, 1st 2022

Puyallup, Washington

Gerald Murry passed away peacefully in his home on the evening of October 1st after a very brief and unexpected battle with liver cancer.

He was born in Tacoma, Washington to Eva and Doyle Murry, and subsequently traveled to several parts of the country through his childhood, then only to return to the Puyallup area as a young adult. He and his wife of 63yrs were married in Tacoma in 1959.  After finishing college at Eastern University, they moved to Puyallup.  While there, they constructed two beautiful homes and were a constant part of the Puyallup Valley for more than 62yrs.

Friends and family of Gerald know him to be a very compassionate and thoughtful man. He readily reached out to those around him, was quick to inquire about who they were and what they were up to.  He was a great listener and was always a voice of reason and wisdom to all who knew him.

Gerald taught junior high school math for 32yrs.  The first 5 years within the Puyallup school district at East Junior high school (now Kalles) and the remaining 27yrs of teaching within the Tacoma School District at Jason Lee Middle School and finally at Baker Middle School.  He touched thousands of students lives through his classroom, chess clubs and other after school activities and tutoring.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Murry and their two children, Gwen Rinkel and Eric Murry, 6 Grandchildren whom he adored and 1 Great Grandchild that blessed his life before his passing.

Gerald will be sorely missed, continuously loved and always remembered.
