I share a lot of Janny's memories. Most all began in Thorp, Wa at Gramma and Grampa's house. We spent so many, many wonderful weekends together. Slide shows, playing in the barn, baths in the laundry room sinks and getting warm by the hall heater.
Gramma had a party line...we always got in trouble listening in!
We spent a week every summer camping in the Taneum...so much fun! Camping at Lake Wenatchee and Fish Lake. Fishing, riding horses and movies in the parking lot. One year we visited every dam in Washington!
As we grew up we saw each other less and less...yet got together as much as possible. My Mom had picnics every summer and Jan and Lloyd (and sometimes David) would come. We all wanted Lloyd on our team for volleyball!
We enjoyed spending time at Jan and Lloyd's cabin in Snoqualmie.
Janny, I will miss you so much. Please hug gramma, grampa, Papa Rob, Lloyd, David and my folks...and save a big one for yourself. (Remember playing slippery seal in the bathtub?)
I love you!

Oh Jeri, what wonderful memories! I do believe they had a mini family reunion when she arrived in heaven. Imagine all the storytelling and hugs going around. We sure have been blessed to be part of these folks. Love, L.

To all of Jan's loved ones, my heartfelt condolences go out to you. What a great sadness that such an active, accomplished outdoors woman who made many contributions to the society surrounding her has departed. What a beautiful cover photo of her with her cascading beautiful red hair. Janis was my neighbor girl in her youth and will always be remembered as such. She lived just up the street from me and our connection was her younger sister Laurel who became a part of our family by spending her before and after school hours in our home with her classmate, my eldest daughter. They remain dear friends to this day. My interaction with Jan was limited, but ever meaningful. The times we had together to sit and chat are such a pleasant memory, and though the years separated our togetherness, she remained and will always remain a compassionate and positive recollection. She was blessed with such a caring and devoted family to attend her final days surrounded by love, support, and comfort. God's blessings to all who loved her and honored her life. Patsy Rosenbach

My memories of Jan, as we knew her beginning in the late '60's, are from when she and her brother Jim came to live at their dad and Lila's home in Kirkland, just two houses up from ours. Their youngest sister Laurel was and remains forever a cherished childhood friend/other "sister" of mine who spent each day after elementary school with my mom and sisters and I until her parents got home from work. Jan was older than us and in highschool, so we only saw her occasionally, but it was cool that Laurel had a teenage sister who would sometimes come down to our house and visit with mom and my sisters and I before dad got home from his construction foreman job. My dad loved redheads, and of course Jan fit the bill, and I know he thought it was great that she was interested in welding. He always said we girls could do anything we wanted, anything a boy could do, and welding at that time was traditionally considered a man's job. Jan also had an amazing figure, and with her beautiful cheekbones structure and gorgeous, thick red hair, she was a knockout. We reconnected a bit at Laurel and Kerri's daughter's wedding when mom and my husband and I got to see "Jani" and her brother "Jimmy" again, and it was wonderful reliving some old times from our neighborhood days. I hold the memory of Jan as that fresh faced, beautiful high school young woman, sitting at our kitchen dining table in her blue t-shirt and blue jeans, red hair parted in the middle draping across shoulders, while mom busily worked in the kitchen serving cookies or making dinner. My youngest sister also remembers that she sometimes went to the Wilcox's home to visit with Jan, too, which I had forgotten. I think Jan probably liked my little sister and could relate to her cute freckles! Although I'm not positive, I think Jan may have babysat us once when our parents went out. Jan was strong, independent and capable, and reading others' memories regarding her willingness to do anything for anyone, I can attest that is a quality she inherited from her loving, strong family. She had the best tender loving care and support and I know she relished being with her sister and family and it enhanced her life. God bless her, her family and all who loved her. Her memory and bright spirit remain to be treasured always. SRD

After reading Janice's obituary there is an expression that seems to fit her to a tee.
"There is no moss growing on that rolling stone". What an exciting and fulfilling life she had. .
I personally did not know Janice but fortunately I knew her vicariously through her loving and caring angel of a sister Laurel who was by her side in the last few months of her life here on earth.
To all her family and friends...I am thinking of you and sending prayers of comfort and healing to help move you through this difficult and grievous time.
Rest In Peace Janice. You will be missed.

My sister from another mister, my best friend. I have so many wonderful memories that I will cherish forever. In 2010 I lost my first bloodhound SAR partner to bloat and torsion. I called her at midnight, right after the vet called to tell me Chile had died. I was crushed. Getting from my house to hers or vice versa involves a ferry ride, and the first ferry heading my direction is at 5:30 in the morning. Janis showed up at my door the next morning which meant she had to leave her house at 4:30 am to make that ferry. She did it without hesitation. She stayed at my house for 2 days, making sure I was okay (and maybe helping me polish off a lot of wine!). It's just what she did. Gads...I miss her so much.
