Chealton Mays

Obituary of Chealton James Mays

Chealton “CJ” Mays, 70, a husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and a dear friend and loved one to many passed away peacefully at home in Puyallup Washington on October 17, 2020.  He was born June 1, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan and later married Un Hye Mays in April 6, 1996.

CJ served for his country in the U.S. Army right after high school and has received many awards.  Just to name some of the prestigious awards gained through his career: the Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/Palm, Vietnam Armed Forces Honor Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea).

CJ enjoyed the beach, loved warm weather, and always picked up and travelled when he felt like it.  Later in life, he picked up a hobby and joined a motorcycle club where he enjoyed riding his bikes across the country.  He enjoyed having good company around and always felt so much happiness hearing from his loved ones who weren’t near.

Everyone who remembers him is asked to celebrate CJ’s life in their own way.  He will deeply be missed by his friends, family, and all that knew him.  CJ will forever be in our hearts.

Funeral Service will be held for Chealton 3 pm October 23, 2020.  Mr Mays will have a graveside service with Military honors 2:30 October 27, 2020 at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent WA.
