I only worked with Diane at Department of Corrections for a few months, but really enjoyed her kindness, knowledge and humor. She is missed! Audrey Short Steele

I met Diane when her young daughter joined the Girl Scout troop I had. I met the family through Kaylene and at the time Diane didn't work so she helped me when she could with the troop. But the one thing she taught me which I was afraid to do was put gas in my car. We were in Aberdeen, WA on the way to a camp out and I needed to get gas and I didn't know how to do self service. Diane laughed with me as she taught me how easy it was. I really missed her husband when he passed. I don't go to funerals but I went to the funeral home to view him. Chatted with him. Diane and her husband were the ones that took me to the hospital when I broke my ankle and stayed with me until they took me into the back. I went to work and Diane worked with me for awhile and then left -and then later I learned where she was. But one day that tickled the heck out of me we were at a gas station and she came around the pump from the other side and said, "Well you haven't forgotten how to do it--pump the gas." I laughed and we laughed and I said I was glad she taught me. So folks even though I never saw her again after that I thought of her when i passed the home they lived in here in Bonney Lake. Diane is in the arms of her husband now.

I remember going to the Puyallup Expo with Dede and Diane. At one point Dede and Judy went in the building to get food or drinks and Diane, Jazzy and I waited outside. When they came out and put our items on the outside table I started to push Diane in her wheelchair, Jazzy pushed my walker. For some reason Dede and Judy laughed at us and said we were a train. Diane also let the cat play on her tablet. She had an app with a bug that ran around the screen and the cat would paw at it trying to get it. Sweet fun loving lady.

This beautiful lady worked hard to keep her sense of humor. She always had a smile especially when I would tell her how some day she was going to reach up and Smack Dede for all the sarcastic comments. So glad I had the opportunity to get to know her and have her in our lives.
