Dear Grandma,
I am thankful to have had the best grandma ever. Memories of your beauty, strength and selflessness will forever remain in my heart.
You were always there for me and gave unconditional love. I will always be grateful for everything you did for me.
Like you, I don't forget much.
Your wisdom still helps me on my journey of life. I may not have seemed to listen or even wanted to sometimes, but trust that I heard you.. and yes, most of the time, you were right.
Ted the teddy will always hold a piece of you. He still plays a beautiful lullaby for 15 minutes and put both my sons to sleep until they were 5. He will always be special, as he has been since you gave him to me in '97, right before Christopher was born.
I am trying to not be sad because I know it was your time to join "your people in heaven".
I am happy for you, I smile when I think of all the memories, but tears still find a way to trickle down my cheek.
Bittersweet.
You taught me at very young that death is part of life. I remember the first time you explained this to me at age 5, at your house in Kent. I asked you if I could have your little red glass candle holder in your display cabinet, you told me that I could have it when you pass away. I asked you what that meant. You told me that passing away means going to heaven, to live in a beautiful place after people get old and tired or really sick. I remember feeling so sad and telling you that I didn't want you to pass away, ever. You told me not to worry, that you won't be going to heaven until you're really old, when I am all grown up. You also explained that this is a natural part of life and that nobody can live here forever.
I understand. And as I listen to another train right now, I want to say that you will always be loved, remembered and missed. Thank you for everything!
With love, Lisa

I miss talking to my mom too.
Quite a mile marker, losing the last of the 10.
Glad to think of all of you gathered together tomorrow. EACH one!
