Obituary of Shirlee Lindquist

Shirlee Jean Lindquist passed away peacefully at her home in Tacoma on June 3rd, 2019, at the age of 84. She was born in Tacoma on April 13th, 1935 to Orville and Mildred Hunter. Shirlee grew up in north Tacoma and graduated from Stadium High School in 1954 where she twirled fire batons, and was a Baton Majorette. During high school she spent her weekends with her sister cruising up and down South Tacoma Way, past Busch’s Drive-in, in their father’s convertible. She also enjoyed boating and water skiing in her younger years. She attended Whitworth University in Spokane and went to work for Western Airlines. After raising her children, she went back to school at Clover Park Technical College, where she met the love of her life, Duane Lindquist. She worked at Clover Park Tech College and retired from Tacoma Dodge. Shirlee and Duane loved going on vacation to Hawaii and Arizona. They spent time golfing, and eventually retired in Arizona until health issues brought them back to Tacoma. Shirlee enjoyed sewing, doing crafts, and decorating. Her house was filled with lots of pillows and flowers. Shirlee is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Jodi Sundgren, and stepdaughter Traci Lindquist. She is survived by her husband Duane Lindquist, daughter Shari (Scott) Grant, brother Donald (Patricia) Hunter, sister Joyce (Kent) Simerson, 2 nieces Megan and Trisha, nephew Tom, and her two grandsons Jaryd and Kehlan Ruffner, who meant the world to her. She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her, especially her husband Duane. June 22nd will be their 43rd Wedding Anniversary. A special thanks to Matt R from Tacoma Power, and the Central Pierce Fire Department for all their efforts. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
