Obituary of Ronald Burton

Ronald Lee Burton passed away peacefully in his sleep in Puyallup, WA at Good Samaritan Hospital on his 79th birthday May 19, 2019. He was born May 19, 1940 to Vernon “Bing” Burton and Enid (Nussrallah) Burton in Deadwood, South Dakota. He has three brothers; Gerald Burton, Robert Burton and William Burton. He has five biological children; Michele Haas, Ronald Burton Jr., Lonnie Burton, Kristin Burton and Gregory Burton and nine biological grandchildren. Ron also has three stepchildren with his loving and devoted wife Judie; Thomas Courts, Leonard Courts, and Lonnie Courts. Leonard Courts recently pre-deceased Ron in 2017. Ron and Judie had 17 grandchildren between them, and five great-grandchildren including a beautiful, devoted and adored dog named “Beau”. Ronald joins his brother Robert, his son Ronnie Lee Jr., and his parents in heaven. Ron grew up in Rapid City, South Dakota and attended Rapid City High School where he played football. Ron then enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1958 and was stationed in Hawaii. Ron attained status as Lance Corporal then was released with an honorable discharge in 1963. Ron was a very proud Marine, it made him the man he was the rest of his life. After his release from the Marines in 1963, he went to work as a line man for Southwest Bell for ten years working his way to Washington state. Ron owned several businesses in Eastern, WA and became a general manager for Group W and Westinghouse in 1972. After retiring, he met the love of his life and best friend, Judie and together they owned and operated Meridian Thrift and Loan in Puyallup, WA for 13 years. They made their home together in Orting, WA where they enjoyed their retirement, their grandchildren and their pets. Ron had many interests such as football, boxing, guns and rifles, fishing, hunting and especially refurbishing Hudson Jets. One of which he donated and is on display at the Hudson Jet museum in South Dakota. Ronald will be buried at the Tahoma National Cemetery at 18600 SE 240th Street, Kent, WA 98042 on June 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to be held immediately after at Hill Funeral Home 217 E.
