Obituary of Richard Timm

Richard “Dick” Allen Timm was born Oct 2, 1929 in Newell, SD. He was the eldest son of Fred and Tilda (Pladson) Timm. He worked the family farm, at a garage in Rhame, ND, the Milwaukee Railroad, and Retired from Schnitzer Steel. In June 13, 1959 he married LaDaska Grace O’Neill in Baker, MT and settled in Miles City, MT. As a supervisor of work equipment for the railroad, they moved him to Deer Lodge, MT and then to Tacoma, WA. In Nov 4, 1962 they had their only child, Camilla Timm. In 1966 they build a home in Edgewood, WA where they still reside today. In 1980 the Milwaukee Railroad closed their west coast operations and he obtains a job at Schnitzer Steel. He started as a heavy equipment mechanic and worked on the cranes climbing 100 to 150 feet in the air. He retired in March 1992. During his retirement he and his wife did a lot of traveling, visiting relatives, and eventually made it to all 50 states in the USA. They spent the winters in Arizona in their motorhome visiting friends and family from all over the US. They also belong to camping clubs, card clubs, seniors at church, and they also spent about 10 years working with the democratic party helping with elections of candidates. They meet several state and local candidates including Vice President Gore. Dick loved people and didn’t meet a stranger. He made friends easily and had a good sense of humor. He told jokes or kidded with everyone he met. He did a lot of mechanic work for friends and neighbors. He was always willing to helps friends and family in any way that he could. Dick is survived by his wife LaDaska Timm of Edgewood, Daughter Camilla Timm-Huston and Son-in-law Gary Huston of Puyallup, WA; Two brothers Jack Timm of Hot Springs, SD and Robert Timm of Puyallup, WA; and one sister Georgia Benton of Sheridan, WY. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred & Tilda, Brother Bud, and Sisters Eris, Mildred, Ida Mae, Madge, and Helen, and brother-in-laws Dick O’Neill and Dave O’Neill. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 11:00am at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Puyallup.
