Obituary of John Burden

John Louis Burden, was born on March 7, 1956 and is predeceased by his parents, Mr. John and Miriam Burden of Cincinnati, Ohio. John was the youngest of six siblings. John came to the Lord and was baptized at an early age at New Prospect Baptist church in Cincinnati, Ohio. John attended Woodard High School, and graduated May 1975. Following high school, John attended the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University. John continued his education while in the military and while working for King County. He received his Associate of Arts degree from Saint Martin’s College, and his Bachelor of Science degree from Excelsior College. John enlisted into the United States Army April 19, 1982 and was last stationed at Ft. Lewis Army base, in Washington State. John met his wife (Renee) during his military training, and the two were married December 26, 1982. They have been married for 36 years and have one daughter Nicole Annette Burden, who served in the United States Army and is currently living in Midland, Texas. John worked for and retired from King County after 28 years of service. One of John’s greatest joys was being a father to his daughter Nicole. John volunteered in Nicole’s classes and field trips often. He also hosted cultural exchange students from Japan through Saint Martin’s College for almost a decade. John loved the outdoors in Washington State, and he loved doing outdoor activities with his wife and daughter. Those activities included snowmobiling, camping, riding his motorcycle and boating. John also enjoyed traveling and trying different foods. John and his family are members of “Graham Emmanuel Baptist Church” in Graham, WA until his illness became too much for him to travel to worship. John has been a God fearing man, he was strong in character and faithful to family. John leaves behind Renee A. Burden-Wife, Nicole A. Burden-Daughter, Sondra Howard-Sister, Ronald Burden-Brother, Tara Harris-Sister, Cheryl Burden-Sister and Gail Burden-Sister, along with a host of cousins and nephews. John also leaves behind to treasure his memory Eugene Haggins-father in law, Dora Haggins-mother in law and Brenda Pierce-sister in law. John will be missed but never forgotten.
