Obituary of Lillian Bartholomew

Lillian Wirkkala Bartholomew Lillian was born in Welcome, Washington on December 9, 1925 to Sam Wirkkala and Anna Haverinen, and passed on Oct 17. She graduated from Winlock High School and was married to Ted Bartholomew in 1946. He preceded her in death. After dairy farming for 10 years, Ted and Lillian moved to the city, built a home in Tacoma, and created a home business growing bedding plants and fuchsias. In 1975 they moved to Brown's Point and had a very active life of hobbies. Lillian was an accomplished weaver, spinner, and swimmer. She took great pride in her Finnish heritage. Many family and friends gathered in their home that she took great pride in decorating and building the gardens. Travel and shopping added to these reunions. She is survived by 2 children, 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, 2 sisters-in-law, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Lillian's love of life, family, friends, and chocolate kept her young and vibrant. A celebration of Lillian's life is planned for December 9, 2018 from 2-4 at the Buckley Finn Hall, 127 North River, Buckley, WA.
