Obituary of Marjory Godsey

Marjory M. Godsey passed peacefully on April 19th 2018. She was 94 years old. Marjory was born one of seven children on a farm outside of Manhattan Kansas to Arthur and Edna Roehl. She was a graduate of Manhattan High School and attended Kansas State University. Mom appreciated a good sense of humor in others so when she met Wayne and fell in love it was no surprise she married him in 1944. They had two children, a son Larry and a daughter Jacqueline. Mom recognized the importance of being a stay at home Mom when the family had to move from state to state while dad was working for Boeing. She was always at home to greet us after school and gave us a warm loving environment. It is something we will always appreciate and be thankful for. Mom loved to square dance and dance to Big Band Music. Her musical tastes included Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Barry Manilow, whom she once said "had the most beautiful voice in the world." She loved arts and crafts and was an accomplished tole painter. She always enjoyed craft classes and craft exhibits, which gave her inspiration for her projects. When she was younger she enjoyed working with children and was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. At one point she volunteered to work in a children's ward of a hospital. Mom loved her garden, which was her pride and joy, especially her roses. She also loved animals, birds and had several beloved cats. Marjory was preceded in death by her husband Wayne. Marjory is survived by daughter Jackie and husband Bob; son Larry and wife Cathy; sister Bonnie and several nieces and nephews. A private service for the family will be held at Woodbine Cemetery. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Mom's caregivers at the adult family home where she resided and to Evergreen Hospice for their kindness and compassionate care of Mom in her final days.
