Obituary of Clyde McCaughey

Clyde Milton McCaughey was born June 19, 1945 in Phoenix, AZ. to Milton and Elizabeth McCaughey. He stepped over Heaven's threshold on April 15, 2018, in Puyallup, WA., after a brief illness. The senior McCaughey’s settled in Lemon Grove, CA. From there they moved to Kenai, Alaska in 1952, where the family homesteaded. Colorful adventures from the homestead years included, territorial schools, dirt roads, outhouses, pushing the school bus through a bog to get to school, having a pet bear, and living in a tent their first winter. Clyde worked commercial fishing in his early teen years, on the Kenai Peninsula. The McCaughey’s moved to Anchorage where he graduated High School in 1963. He began working in the grocery business as an employee for Carr's Food Center in Anchorage. He opened his first grocery store in 1970 in Anchorage. Clyde continued in the grocery business with follow on stores in WA. OR. and AZ., highlighting a successful career in retail grocery. He retired in 2013. Some of his fondest memories were at Lake Tapps where he and his growing family enjoyed, boating, waterskiing, zipping around on Wave Runners, and summer gatherings with nieces, nephews, siblings, parents, and extended family. His Pride and Joy was his Family. His children, Cache, Cody, Cully & Corde, grandchildren, Courtney, Cailyn, Cache, Colby, Chloe, Carter, Carson and Caden, and great grandsons, Brian, Clint, & Colt. He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest son, Cache. He is survived by Cache's wife Jenelle, of Mesa, AZ., daughter Cody Johanneck and son-in-law, Chris Shelley of Buckley, WA., daughter Cully Taggart and son-in-law Ryan of Mt. Vernon, WA., and son Corde of Lake Tapps, WA., 8 grand-children, and 3 great-grandsons. In addition, three siblings: brothers Tom McCaughey of Nikiski, AK. and Brian McCaughey of Kenai, AK.; sister Stella Chambers of Athol, ID. and much-loved nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2018 at Hill Funeral Home. 217 E. Pioneer Puyallup, WA 98372
