Obituary of Lou Anne Otis

Lou Anne Otis, 63, of Puyallup died Mar. 2, 2018 of lung cancer that became brain cancer. She was born in Yakima WA to Katie and Earl Otis, then living in Sunnyside. She has been a Puyallup resident most of her life. After graduation from Puyallup High School, Class of 1972, she attended Washington State University, graduating with two bachelor’s degrees. She held a receptionist job with local doctors, eventually creating her own solo house cleaning business. She also became part of the team that cared for her mother until Katie’s death in 2013. Lou Anne loved her cats and her garden where, on a small plot of ground, she grew enough tomatoes to feed two families. One of her Episcopal church friends called her the “Tomato Queen.” Lou Anne is survived by her father; a sister, Susan (Martin) Martinez; nieces Rachel (Bradley) Barrett and Isabel Martinez, nephew Sam Martinez; an uncle and aunt, Harley and Jeanette Otis, of Graham and six cousins, Karen Miller of Richland, Nancy Libby of Edina, MN, Patrick and Steve Otis, Seattle and Mike and Matt Gochnour of Everett and Port Angeles. Services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church in Puyallup on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 10 a.m. Her family is grateful to many professionals at Linden Grove Nursing Home for months of care and to Drs. Blau & Veach, oncologists at NW Medical Specialties.
